Puffins are excellent swimmers. They swim by flapping their wings as if they are flying throught the water. Puffins can dive under water as deep as 60m (200 ft). They can dive underwater for 20-30 seconds. Puffins have waterproof feathers that help them swim and float on the oceans surface. They hunt for herring,hake,capelin and sand eels. Puffins supplent their meals by drinking saltwater.They are specially adapted to living on the open ocean.
